- Celebrating 25 Years of JPRS: Continuing to Support the Internet Infrastructure and Realizing a Prosperous Society -

Happy New Year!

We are pleased to announce that JPRS marked its 25th anniversary on 26 December 2025. This milestone was made possible thanks to the continuous support of our customers, the Internet community, and our business partners. We sincerely appreciate your trust and support.

JPRS was established on 26 December 2000. Since then, we have worked to improve JP Domain Names and DNS services, including introducing General-use JP Domain Name and shortening processing time for JP DNS updates. As a result, the total number of registered JP domain names, approximately 230,000 as of January 2001, has grown to exceed 1.83 million as of January 2026.

In addition, since 2011, we have launched "gTLD Registration Services" to address diverse domain name needs, and since 2016, we have launched "Server Certificate Issuance Services" to enhance security in the use of domain names, have contributed to the realization of a better Internet society.

Moreover, JPRS has actively supported the Internet community by publishing technical information and advisories on domain names and DNS, joint operation of M-Root DNS server, and contributing globally at the ICANN and the IETF. We also continue our long-time commitment to education and human resource development for the next generation of the Internet, including the free distribution of materials on how the Internet works and domain names to educational institutions nationwide, as well as on-site classes, courses, hands-on workshops, and endowed courses at schools and universities from the elementary level through higher education.

As a company that supports the network infrastructure, JPRS will continue to make further efforts to improve the quality of its services, and thereby contributing to the development of the Internet and the building of a better future for everyone.
