JP Domain Name Advisory Committee
Japan Registry Services Co., Ltd. (JPRS) succeeded management and administration of .JP top-level domain from Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC).
JPRS established the JP Domain Name Advisory Committee to carry out JP domain name registration in a fair and neutral manner.
ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which coordinates technical management of the Internet resources such as top-level domains on the global level, delegates management and administration of each top-level domain to ccTLD registry organization. In accordance with RFC1591 (*1) and ICP-1 (*2), ICANN requests each organization to maintain fairness and neutrality in managing the top-level domains.
JP Domain Name Advisory Committee takes charge of the role that ICANN asks for with an aim to abide by the principles mentioned above and in the ccTLD Sponsorship Agreement executed between JPRS and ICANN (*3).

The Advisory Committee's Draft Establishment Charter was posted on the JPNIC Website, and JPNIC received twenty comments during its public comment period from May 23, 2001 to June 22, 2001.

Note: Upon finalizing the Establishment Charter, JPRS changed the name of the Committee from "JPRS Advisory Committee" to "JP Domain Name Advisory Committee".
