JPRS Submitted Joint Response with world technical community coalition to the ITU Council Working Group on WSIS & SDG Call for Inputs

(3 February 2025)

On 31 January 2025, JPRS, along with global technical community members (TCCM[*1]), submitted a joint response to the ITU Council Working Group on WSIS & SDGs[*2] call for inputs.

This consultation sought broad perspectives on key achievements of the WSIS[*3] process over the past 20 years, ITU's contributions, and future actions related to WSIS process, including its alignment with the GDC[*4].

In the submission, we highlighted WSIS's key achievements, such as the establishment of the multistakeholder Internet governance model and the creation of the IGF[*5]. We also emphasized the importance of continued engagement with non-government stakeholders within ITU process. Also, we proposed that the WSIS process would serve as an effective framework for implementing the Pact for the Future[*6] and the GDC, with the IGF playing a crucial role in fostering multistakeholder participation. Furthermore, we stressed the need for flexible and inclusive discussions on emerging technologies such as AI through the multistakeholder approach.
