JPRS Joins Internet Watch Foundation

- Collaborating to Eliminate Child Sexual Abuse Materials and Strengthening Efforts Against Domain Names Used for Fraudulent Activities -

Japan Registry Services Co., Ltd. (JPRS: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President Koki Higashida) today announced that it joined UK-based nonprofit organization the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), which works to eliminate Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), on 1 November 2024.

IWF provides CSAM identification and reporting services to more than 200 members, including global digital service providers, operates a hotline for reporting CSAM from around the world, and requests removal of the content identified as CSAM.

Recent years have seen a growing international effort to address the urgent issue of eliminating CSAM from the Internet. In 2023, the UK government proposed the "Removing Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Materials: Call to Action," which was signed by 71 countries, including Japan. Additionally, the communique of the 2023 G7 Hiroshima Summit included a commitment to preventing child sexual exploitation and abuse on online platforms.

JPRS has been working in collaboration with relevant organizations to address issues such as domain names used for fraudulent activities, including phishing. With this membership in IWF, JPRS will proactively address CSAM based on notifications of location information received from IWF.

JPRS remains committed to its role as a company supporting the Internet infrastructure and will continue efforts to make the Internet safer and more secure for users.
